APPendicitis
The development of this calculator was based on a non published prospective trial with 126 patients with abdominal pain at the Emergency Unit of Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre - Brazil. Each factor used in this app was derived from a logistic regression analysis. Continuous data (age, days of symptoms, WBC count) were analyzed using a Receiver Operating Characteristic. Differently from traditional analysis, all points of the curve were considered, and their likelihood ratio used. This is a beta version and further validation is necessary. Results presented here are probabilities and may not have external validity. The responsibility of the patients treatment is exclusive of the assistant physician.
